Today I have recorded a short 2-3 minute mini body scan meditation that is surprisingly effective at rapidly relaxing the body. The meditation starts with three deep breaths to loosen up the breath before moving your attention through the body from top to toe over seven breaths.
As you scan the body, counting down from seven, the feeling of the relaxed breath encourages other muscles to relax in tandem. Breathing itself is a muscular movement, and when any muscles relax, a knock on effect takes place and other muscles start relaxing also. Once you have done this guided meditation a couple of times you will be able to do this on your own anytime. It is wonderful exercise to have up your sleeve whenever you are feeling stressed and have a few minutes to spare!
